Oriente, a cafe in South Korea, was created by local design studio Labotory to create a place for enjoyment and new experiences by giving it a unique, nuance atmosphere. They believe that a good space should not be satisfied with just providing beautiful graphics.
Cafe Oriente, at the end of Hannam-dong, sells handmade Korean desserts and coffee. Labotory tries to capture the harmony of exquisite Oriental beauty through modern simplicity.
The C-shaped structure, like a traditional Hanok courtyard, with white ceiling finishes reminiscent of Korean paper, the cafe space is represented by the elastic curve of the eaves, solid wood seats like ridge floors, rough and hard granite contrast all elements that make up this space in order on the seats, while creating a comfortable atmosphere.
When a customer sits down to enjoy a cup of coffee, it’s like sitting on the floor and admiring a small garden. It may be an experience of accepting the essence of the act of drinking coffee and the spatial energy of delicate forms.
