Described as a city within a city, Frederiksberg is an area of Copenhagen known for its leafy streets, local parks, and entrepreneurial environment. The district’s addition of Start-Up City, a mix of housing, retail, and office space for promising entrepreneurs, will turn the area into one of Europe’s most attractive hubs for innovators of the next app or tech device. The 13-storey, 15,500-square-metre complex will house 550 flexible office spaces, 131 apartments, conference, exhibition and educational facilities, restaurants, and a variety of retail.

Several sustainable measures are incorporated into the design of Start-Up City, such as optimized use of daylight, natural ventilation, and an efficient building envelope. Green plants used on selected facades act as solar screening, while indoor green walls increase biodiversity and contribute to a healthy indoor climate. The project is targeting DGNB Silver certification.
