The design of the gallery is largely dictated by the ‘gallery path’, an almost ceremonial entrance way which leads the visitor around the building and up onto the main entrance on a balcony overlooking the street. The architect describes the path as an element which helps the visitor “turn away from the public and enter more privately, intimately” into the gallery.
入口处也有一个倾斜的室外座位区，可以作为一个几乎是戏剧的空间，允许画廊举办活动和演讲，这有助于它成为一个艺术论坛的雄心。
The entrance pathway also features a sloped outdoor seating area that can serve as an almost theatrical space, allowing the gallery to host events and talks which contributes to its ambition of being a forum for art.

On the street level, a glazed ground floor gives passers-by a view into the gallery, but denies them an entrance. Their curiosity guides them onto the path which encompasses the building before reaching the entrance.

Elsewhere, the building asserts its importance with an almost monolithic character, standing apart from the line of buildings on Ilica Street. The travertine facade adds to this monolithic character.
