该项目是要设计建设一个新的海洋教育中心，地址位于瑞典的马尔默。丹麦政府通过授权委员会，采取邀请竞标的方式来确定承建商。该项目的建设希望拉近建筑与景观的距离，将建筑和景观有机的进行结合。于此同时，另外一个目的就是希望通过该项目，进一步加深人们对海洋的认识。该项目的建设目标之所以要人们加深对海洋的认识，主要是因为近些年气候的不断变化如海平面不断上升、极端气候异常等都对人们的生产、生活造成了深刻的影响，因此，现在比任何时候都更有必要去了解海洋生物和海洋。

该项目通过建造一个巨大的屋顶，合并室内与室外空间，同时围绕海洋生物，创建一个迷人的景观建筑。主要的特色项目是设计建设一个浮动实验室，建设一个小型可移动浮筒，并安装一个双筒望远镜，使它能够深入水下和海底，来更好的观察和研究海洋。该项目既可以作为海洋教育基地，又是一道景观，旨在实现景观和建筑、自然和文化之间的过渡。希望通过人们的亲身体验和观察，加深对海洋的认识。

NORD Architects has released designs for a new Marine Education Centre in Malmö, Sweden. The Copenhagen-based practice, awarded the commission through an invited competition, hopes to “blur the distinction between architecture and landscape” with a facility that helps users gain a “deeper understanding of marine life.”“With the changing climate, rising oceans and increased severity of cloudbursts, there is a need more than ever to understand the profound influence that marine life and the oceans have on our lives”, says Johannes Molander Pedersen, partner at NORD Architects.

The proposal merges indoor and outdoor spaces under a single, large roof to create an engaging learning landscape centered on marine life. Featured programs will include “floating laboratories on small removable pontoons, teaching signs on the seabed and underwater sea binoculars.” Further contributing to the learning experience, the building’s water handling, energy consumption and ventilation functions will also be placed on display. “We have developed a learning landscape where education is everywhere. It is in the landscape, in the building and in the transition between nature and culture. The center is open for everyone who is interested in the role we as humans play in nature’s life cycle. It allows a hand on learning experience that invites users to explore using their senses in the field, and thereafter analyzes and understands their observations of the marine life”, says Johannes Molander Pedersen.
